Steal of a Deal
BYU’s Bronco Mendenhall and Utah’s Kyle Whittingham were the subject of a section-front story in Friday’s Wall Street Journal.
The article, titled ” Saner Approach to College Football” noted that Mendenhall and Whittingham are winning without commanding astronomical salaries. Since Mendenhall’s salary isn’t published, the newspaper didn’t have exact figures, but put his income at roughly $1 million annually. Sources have previously told the Deseret News that’s a high estimate — by a considerable amount.
Whittingham makes $683,000 annually.
And those are apparently bargain basement salaries.
Mendenhall was rated by the WSJ as the fifth-best bargain in the business, while Whittingham is No. 10.
Kind of makes you wonder how many jobs there are out there that pay $700,000-$1 million and are considered low-paying.
