The Waiting Game
The Michigan trip turned out to be fairly disconcerting for some Ute fans and players — before the game had even begun.
Can you say arachnophobia?
At least one Utah fan said there were spiders in the corners and insects on the walls in her room.
When boosters arrived, rooms weren’t ready and some claimed they waited four hours to check in.
Even some of the Ute players had to wait a couple of hours at their own hotel to get into their rooms. However, they had film to watch and team meetings to attend.
Whether such delays were are actually designed to interrupt the Utes’ routine is doubtful. But such things do happen. In the early 1990s, and the Jazz played at Boston Garden, only three shower faucets worked in the visiting locker room — and mostly emitted cold water only. Rumor has it Red Auerbach said he wanted it that way.
