The Price of Playing

Jazz guard Ronnie Price loves his job.
But for entertainment, he enjoys football.
“I love that stuff,” he said Monday.
Price, who grew up in the Houston area, is friends with fellow Houstonians Jereme Brooks and Brian Johnson, who play football for the University of Utah. In fact, Price, who says he was a Michigan fan growing up, was on the sidelines of the Ute-Wolverine game in August. He could be seen clenching his fists and whooping after Utah held on to win.
Asked if it was harder to watch than be involved, he said, “Oh, yeah. Give me a helmet and some pads.”
That didn’t happen in high school. When he was a freshman, he was skinny undersized kid, weight about 115.
“High school football in Texas?” he said. “Uh-uh. That doesn’t work.”
