RSL: Attitude Equals Altitude
It’s all in your attitude. Isn’t that what your mother used to say?
Real Salt Lake midfielder Kyle Beckerman was saying this week that attitude has made all the difference. And it wasn’t just luck.
‘We made our luck,’ he said. ‘We kept it in our hands all year, which is important. Teams that play well in the playoffs — very rarely do you back into the playoffs and just go on and win it,” he said. “So yeah, we felt pretty confident, just trying to stay in good form. The main thing is we just started believing.’
Which bodes well for this weekend’s match with New York.
‘You just get to playing good soccer and when we’re playing our best soccer ,we’re creating lot of chances, When we’re doing that, we’re beating up teams, we’re dominating the game, and that’s been our main focus last couple of games and it’s starting to pay off,. We’re starting to believe that good things should happen for us. In the past for Real it’s been other way. They found things started happen to ‘em and they accepted it little bit. Now we’re looking for good things to happen.’
Confidence aside, Beckerman admits the way things came down ‘ two 90th minute goals to save the day ‘ surprised even him.
‘Yeah, it’s kinda crazy how it happened. Right now we’re in good form and playing good soccer and outplaying some teams. We’re just trying run with it. You win a series and a team loses that you don’t expect to lose, and you’ve got a home game for a conference championship. We didn’t really expect it to happen like this…It’s great feeling and we’re all excited.’
