Bring on K-Fes

If you’re wondering why the Jazz decided to pick up the third year option on Kyrylo Fesenko, today, the answer is this: How many other 7-foot-1, 300-pound players are there out there for that price?

The $870,000 tag means K-Fes comes fairly cheap. And if he develops, he’ll be something the Jazz don’t have right now: a seven-foot low post presence. Now that he is entering his third NBA season, he won’t be eligible to be sent to the Flash. So maybe that means if he makes the team, the public will get a chance to see him play. So far he has appeared sparingly in only 30 games.

Clearly, he frustrates the Jazz. He’s not in great shape and his offbeat sense of humor can rankle serious guys like Phil Johnson and Jerry Sloan. For me, the signing is great news. The man makes me laugh.

Of course, any NBA player who admits to watching for Jennifer Aniston when they’re playing the Lakers entertains me.

Considering the Jazz invested a decade in Greg Ostertag – I know, I know, he had a few (very few) good moments – makes it clear why they were willing to invest another $870,000 to see if they can get anything out of K-Fes.

I can get plenty out of him already – any time I need a good quote.
