Don't Mess With Success

A salary cap seems to be working in the U.S., but don’t bring it up with the international soccer crowd.

And by the way, as far as they’re concerned, there’s no question which is the “World Game.”

Everton FC manager David Moyes responded to a question this week about instituting a salary cap thusly: “I think soccer is the global game. Far bigger than American football, far bigger than basketball, far bigger than any of the sports over here, so you Americans can’t start changing it and tampering with it. It’s what we do. And I have to say that what you’re saying would be unworkable with the rest of the world. Certainly what you’re trying to suggest in America works for you, I don’t think it would work for anyone else.”

Kind of like football, rather than futbol.
