Boise Can Get Inside Track on BCS

While Utah and BYU fans will be interested in Thursday’s Ute-Aggie football outcome, they shouldn’t forget another huge game the same night.

Oregon plays at Boise State in a match-up of ranked teams.

Oregon is rated No. 16 in the preseason AP poll, Boise State No. 14.

Why Utah and BYU fans should pay attention to the Boise-Oregon game is this: If the Broncos win, they have the inside track to a BCS bowl this year. It is the only ranked opponent BSU plays, and the Broncos could well go undefeated if they get past the Ducks. Meanwhile, the odds aren’t nearly as likely for Utah, BYU and TCU – the other early contenders for BSC bowls. BYU plays four ranked teams, Utah three.
TCU only plays Utah and BYU that are ranked, but it also plays at Virginia and Clemson.

As for Utah State fans, they should pay attention, too. That’s because the Broncos play in Logan on Nov. 20. If the Aggies are ever going to get a shot at ambushing BSU, it would have to be in late November in Logan.
