O.P.'s Dad OK in Haiti

Olden Polynice is an enigma.

He was involved in a road rage incident in Utah in 2000 and convicted of impersonating an officer. In a separate issue, he was charged with misdemeanor assault following an altercation at a golf course and fined for shouting obscenities at a prosecutor.

His wife once left a somewhat profane voice mail for me, challenging me to call her back. ( I didn’t.)

At the same time, I always liked the guy. He was interesting, articulate and always willing to talk to the media. I’ll put him on the list of 10 most quotable Utah Jazz players of all time.

That said, I found myself wondering if the Haitian native, who lives in L.A., had relatives caught in the monstrous earthquake that hit the country. According to one report, the news is good for O.P. His father, who moved back to Haiti from New York, is apparently OK.<a href="http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/12284/haiti-update-olden-polynices-father-ok

Here’s hoping things continue to turn out well for him.
