My own Mac attack

Nothing surprises me when it comes to athletes coming (halfway) clean. And nothing annoys me more.

Last week, Mark McGwire admitted he used steroids as a player, but he then excused himself by claiming it was for healing purposes only. No surprise there. He’s still justifying cheating.

Even more annoying was the fact he was offered a STANDING OVATION on Sunday in his first public appearance in St. Louis since the admission.

But the real clincher was that Mr. I’m-not-here-to–talk-about-the-past asked to move forward. Imagine that.

“I hope you all can accept this,” McGwire said. “Let’s all move on from this. Baseball is great right now, baseball is better.”

Right. Let’s not talk about the past.

But wait.

I’m not ready to move on. I’m still angry.

And I’m not going to get over it until I’m darn good and ready.

McGwire took years to confess to using steroids.

I’m going to take years to forgive him.
