Anger Issues
Looks like we’ve got some emotion(al) issues in the college basketball ranks.
Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari showed up, this week, with his hand bandaged. The culprit: an offending clipboard.Calipari said he punched the clipboard during the Wildcats’ loss to Tennessee. He thought it would bend or break, but it bit back.
But he’s not the only coach with anger/frustration woes. New Mexico coach Steve Alford drew a reprimand from the Mountain West Conference for calling BYU’s Jonathan Tavernari “an (expletive).”
Shades of his college coach, Bob Knight?
In December, Weber State hoops coach Randy Rahe — actually, a pretty low-key guy — broke his hand punching the padding on the basketball standard during practice.
Moral to the story: Coach like you parent — don’t do anything you’d want your own kids to imitate.
