Reillying Up the Canadians

As I understand it, ESPN’s Rick Reilly is taking a lot of grief from Canadians for writing some not-so-complimentary things about the Vancouver Olympics.

That spurred a follow-up column, in which he sort of apologized. But in typical Reilly style (which, I might add, is great), he also threw in some nice one-liners.

All I can say is the man doesn’t hate Canada. I was walking on the street near the medals podium during the 2002 Olympics and passed Reilly, coming the other way. He was wearing a Canada letterman-style jacket. (Of course, at the time, who wasn’t?)

So you can put to rest the idea that Reilly hates Canada.

How he felt about how the Winter Games were handled could be a different matter entirely.
