Anyone Got a Calendar?
Whether it’s ineptitude or arrogance, it’s hard to say, but the Pepsi Center and/or the NBA seem to have a scheduling problem.
Minutes after the Jazz and Suns wrapped up their season finale, Wednesday, NBA officials sent out a memo to the Jazz saying they would open the playoffs against Denver on Sunday and Tuesday at the Pepsi Center.
Maybe not.
Upon further review, it was learned the Colorado Avalanche had NHL playoff games scheduled the same days at the same venue.
This isn’t the first time such a thing has happened. Last year, the league announced it would play a Denver-L.A. playoff game on May 25 at the Pepsi Center. D’oh! That was the same date WWE had scheduled a “Monday Night Raw” event.
WWE ended up agreeing to let the NBA use the arena.
Still, you have to wonder: Is anyone in the NBA checking availability before planning playoff games?
