Fesenko in Depth

A few leftovers from the interview session with Kyrylo Fesenko on Wednesday:

On getting mentally ready: “I need to bring some toughness, some better defense, I don’t know, I need to improve anywhere. Well, that’s why we’re here.”

On whether he has improved in three seasons: “I think I improved a lot but I leave it up to coaches to decide whether I improved or not, so it’s not a question to ask a player.”

Whether he’s a different player: “Definitely. I look at myself three years ago, I’m a whole different player.”

On whether the playoffs differ from the regular season: “It’s not actually so different as I was worried, the regular season or playoffs I’m a little worried, especially with the bigger responsibility, so I concentrate and try to play 105 percent, because 100 percent is obviously not enough.”

On being a “celebrity” player now that he’s starting: “Pretty good, pretty good. Actually it’s kind of weird because three years (ago) I would get shots up by that time (at practice) on a regular day and I’m still talking to you guys, it’s kind of frustrating.”

On knocking down Chauncey Billups on a layup: “When you’re a 300 (pound), 7-1 guy, you need to knock some guy out.”

On whether he slept after Game 2: “Yeah, but it was little late, I was so excited, after plane ride I was like sleepy but everybody start callng me — my mom, my friends — and I got hyped again, so it was hard to go sleep.”
