Miles' Change of Style

What’s that insurance commercial?

Life comes at you quickly.

Especially if you’re drafted out of high school the way C.J. Miles was.

The Jazz forward looks back philosophically at his arrival in Utah and how his game has changed. Asked about how the Jazz play defense, this week, he said, “That’s one of the reasons I didn’t play early in my career, is I wasn’t good defensively out of high school.

“I had a lot to learn and had to develop my body in order to be defensive. So, man, it brought me a long way.”

Miles went on to say the Jazz foul a lot (second most in the NBA), but “we do a good job of not fouling when we need not to foul. We get our fouls during the game; we don’t give up a lot of easy baskets. We try to make them earn the baskets, instead of just letting them get ‘and-ones’ and really get going.”

Count Paul Millsap among those who think wrapping up the series Wednesday against Denver would be a good idea.

Asked if winning on Wednesday would give the Jazz too much time off, Millsap responded: “Oh, not at all. We’ve got guys who are playing a lot of minutes, so to end that series tomorrow would be great for us. Absolutely, you can benefit from that a lot.”
