A.K. may not be sharp
Andrei Kirilenko is being called a game-time decision on whether he comes back from his calf injury, that has kept him out of the playoffs.
His return for Game 2 of the conference semifinals would be a boost for the Jazz, considering the versatility and defensive presence he brings. But before Jazz fans get too excited — whenever the return — they should remember the man hasn’t played since April 15, hasn’t played a full game since March 12.
He’s not likely to be sharp.
You don’t sit out two months and come back in game condition.
More likely his timing will be off, he’ll be a bit tentative and he’ll get winded.
Still, the return of Kirilenko would add a body. That in itself means something, considering the Jazz have been playing shorthanded all playoffs. But as a big presence in the game, I’m doubtful. If he does return, it will simply give the Jazz one more good player off the bench, whether it’s Kirilenko or C. J. Miles who is the current starter.
* * *
Miles is getting, well, miles of attention in the post-season.
He is one of the main interviewees after games and during practice sessions this year. He was always a good interview and always well liked. It’s just that now he has a big enough role that reporters want to seek him out.
Anyway, notice the number of times Miles is quoted nowadays in media outlets. In that sense, he’s going places he’s never been before.
