BYU, USU tourney seedings coming into focus

It’s getting close. Very close.

Time to start watching things like RPI, rankings and such.

With the NCAA Tournament starting in three weeks, hoopologists are lining up their projections in a serious way. The Sporting News has BYU projected as a No. 2 seed. Interestingly, it also has San Diego State a two seed, which would be a major coup for basketball in the Mountain West Conference.

TSN has Utah State a 10 seed. But the good news for the Aggies is that there is starting to be pretty strong sentiment that USU will make the NCAA field this year, whether or not it wins the WAC Tournament. That isn’t always the case. Critics point to the fact USU has played only three of the top 100 teams in the RPI ratings. Still, the “Bracketbuster” win over St. Mary’s last weekend did a lot of good.
