Booing Boozer in Chicago

Enough about Carlos Boozer.

OK, maybe a little bit more.

I wrote a column earlier this week deseretnews.com about Carlos Boozer’s inability to (a) avoid injury and/or (b) play when hurt. Now even more Chicago media and fans are starting to question his toughness.

I’m no doctor. All I know is John Stockton played throughout the playoffs one year with his shoulder damaged so bad, he couldn’t lift his arm to eye level. Karl Malone played with fingers torn and jammed through most of a season. I saw Malone play for weeks with an ankle sprain/ligament pull so bad, it was twice the size of normal.

I’m sure turf toe is painful. I’m also sure that Boozer doesn’t play well through injuries.

One thing seems certain: After nine years in the league, Boozer’s reputation as a highly paid star who often can’t answer the bell is going to be permanent. Like that boat you bought and then sold a few years ago, it was a beautiful thing…on the days you could get it started.
