Kardashian makes Humphries a star
I’m usually above cheap Hollywood gossip, but…OK, who am I kidding?
I’ve got TMZ on speed dial.
Anyway, today’s subject: Is ex-Jazz forward Kris Humphries really marrying Kim Kardashian?
Sheesh! Who would have thought the first Jazz player to marry a mega-celebrity would be Humphries?
Here’s the part I don’t get. He’s Kris Humphries. She’s a paparazzi magnet who used to date Reggie Bush. Now she’s marrying only the second-best NBA player in the family. I”m sure Humphries always dreamed of being a star — just not on Access Hollywood.
I can’t say I know much about Humphries. He didn’t play enough that I had any reason to interview him, other than maybe a random locker room quote here and there — though I can’t even remember doing that. Now both his basketball career and his love life are taking off.
I’ve seen stories that say “Khloe & Lamar” — a reality show about Khloe Kardashian and Laker husband Lamar Odom — is a distraction for him and his teammates. They claim there’s TOO MUCH INFORMATION. I agree.
Weird. Athletes complain about privacy, then let TV cameras follow them everywhere they go. (Though I will say this: I’ve always found Odom to be accommodating and polite in interviews.)
If the distraction is bit much for a player as good as Odom, what will it do to a fairly private and less talented player like Humphries?
Since I’m not close to Humphries, I won’t be calling him up to ask for a quote on his engagement. But his brief stay in Utah taught me a lesson: Never underestimate the last guy in the lineup.
The way things have been going, I expect Jeremy Evans to marry Lady Gaga any day.
