More Boozer Blather

When are they going to learn?

As the saying goes, Carlos Boozer is what he is: A nice double-double, offense-only player who will never pass over into superstardom.

Tuesday a new yet really, really old story showed up on the Chicago Tribune’s website. It had G.M. Gar Forman defending what the Tribune referred to as “the preferred punching bag” of Bulls fans. The story had Forman noting Boozer’s consistency and using the same statistics as always.

Then there was Forman defending Boozer’s chronic injury problems, such as turf toe and an ankle sprain, and his defense.

This isn’t new material. It’s just that no matter where Boozer goes, the same explanations come forth: He’s not great defensively but he’s improving; he gets nice numbers; he’s struggled with injuries.

Once teams start saying he’s a good player, not a superstar, and stop expecting him to be one, they’ll be fine.

This should be what they’re saying: Carlos Boozer is a nice scorer and rebounder. He will be injured and miss games every year. He will never play serious defense.

Then leave it at that.
