Chow not only Ute coach in USC reunion

Much is being made of Utah offensive coordinator Norm Chow’s return to USC this week. A less publicized story is the return of offensive line coach Tim Davis.

Davis, a 1982 Utah graduate, coached at USC from 2002-04. Chow was there from 2001-04.

Davis calls the L.A. Memorial Coliseum, home of the Trojans, “a fun, historic old place.”

“The kids will be fired up but not intimidated,” he said of Utah’s game against USC on Saturday. “They’re excited to go play.”

He mentions actor Will Ferrell among the most loyal of the celebrity USC fans.

“He had to be the best,” said Davis. “He showed up every day, a really good guy, a fun guy.”

Davis, who was an assistant coach at Utah from 1990-96, says Chow was always a celebrity coach.

“Oh, he was when I was here. I just follow in his shadow,” he said. “Where he goes, lots of good things happen. A lot of guys are fired up to have him here. He’s a really good offensive coordinator and a really good person.”
