BCS upheaval: Should Duke, Kansas be left out?

As the look of college athletics continues to change, everyone seems to be putting together their own list of super-conferences. Most of them look about the same.

But if football is the driving force behind it all — and it is — what about the basketball schools?

An oft-used phrase about college sports nowadays is that “football drives the bus.” In that case, what’s Connecticut doing in a BCS conference? And if you really want to be hard-nosed about it, does Duke belong in one of the new super-conferences? Kentucky? Kansas?

I suspect the great basketball schools will be grandfathered into the big BCS system, however it ends up. But when you think about it, if the BCS conferences are all about football, there are some very interesting schools that might not make the cut.

What current BCS schools do you think should be left out of the mix? Do you think BYU should be added? Boise State? Anyone else?

I assume tradition will prevail and Kansas and Duke will always be in the highest divisions, no matter what their football teams do. Or should the new conferences be entirely about football? Should there be separate conferences for football and basketball?

SHOULD THIS BE A BCS SCHOOL?
