Jazz dunk shakes the earth
Jeremy Evans’ dunk brought the house down.
The Jazz forward took off from way out, and posterized Portland’s Gerald Wallace with a one-handed jam. The fans at Wednesday’s exhibition game at ESA went nuts — even more so when the officials called him for an offensive foul.
And replays showed that Wallace indeed was outside the half-circle. Had Wallace been inside, the dunk would have been ruled legitimate.
Great play to watch. But the important point here is that with young players, as much as they love those plays — and the crowd loves them, too — Evans would have been better off pulling back or laying the ball off the glass. It’s true that those dunks make the highlights, but if you get called for an offensive foul, the play is pointless.
In Evans’ case, he would be wise to look and learn. Spectacular stuff only matters if the basket counts.
But hey, it’s a guilty pleasure for Jazz fans. Watch away. And as for Evans, have a nice flight.
