Sun Bowl randomness

It’s still nearly an hour before kickoff, but it looks to be a pro-Utah crowd for today’s Sun Bowl.
Georgia Tech has been to 15 bowl games, but its fan base doesn’t seem excited about this one. That despite reports that Tech sold a few hundred more tickets than Utah.
Right now it appears there are more Ute fans in the stands than Tech fans. But neither school came close to selling its ticket allotment.
Utah is wearing red jerseys with white plants, Tech has white jerseys and gold pants.

I ran into Mike Price, the former Weber State and current UTEP coach at a Sun Bowl function, yesterday.
He seemed as nice a person as he always was; a guy grateful for a second chance.
Price always had a wacky streak when he was at Weber. He’d have a watermelon bust at practice, color his hair purple, stage a water fight and other things to make the players laugh. His name took a hit when he he was fired at Alabama for an incident at a nightclub.
Sports Illustrated wrote a story about a night of partying by Price in a Florida club, shortly after he was hired by Alabama. He eventually reached a settlement with Time, Inc., which he felt vindicated him.
Price said recruiting is going well at UTEP and he loves the job.
