Detmer protege chooses other Quarterback U.

BYU likes to call itself “Quarterback U.” and that may be true.
But there’s another school that makes claim to the same name: the University of Miami.
A post in the “Truth & Rumors” section of SI.com notes that a Hurricane recruit from Texas could be the first NFL-worthy signal-caller at “Quarterback U.” in a decade. The article also points out that Preston Dewey was tutored by none other than Ty Detmer, the former Heisman winner from BYU.
Hmmm. Kind of makes you wonder if Detmer tried to steer him toward BYU.
