Eyes on NFL? Utah gets you there
It’s no secret the University of Utah does a lot with what it has, when it comes to football recruiting. It doesn’t often get blue chip athletes.
But according to one breakdown, the Utes do better than any team in the nation at turning recruiting classes into NFL draftees.
College Football Matrix collegefootballmatrix.com took the recruiting ranking of teams from 2002-2008 and compared it to NFL draftees. Utah ranked 66th in recruiting, yet was 25th in the number of players drafted.
According to CFM’s formula, that made Utah the No. 1 school in the country in its draft pick/recruiting ratio.
BYU rated higher than Utah in recruiting classes over the seven-year period (59th to 66th) but was 47th in draft pick/recruiting ratio. Utah produced 21 draftees over that period, BYU 10.
Utah State was not listed among the 78 schools in the draft pick/recruiting breakdown.
