TJ isn’t helping Jimmer

Thanks, but no thanks.

That is what Jimmer Fredette should be saying to his brother right now.

TJ Fredette, sibling of the Jimmer, is raising eyebrows after tweeting out this message: “can we please get rid of this interim coach who should be an assistant at best and bring in a real head coach!!”

Jimmer meets the press in SLC

The coach is Keith Smart and the issue is playing time. Fredette didn’t get off the bench Tuesday night – the second DNP in five games. On Sunday he played just five minutes for the Kings.

It seems Smart isn’t convinced Fredette will be all that special in the NBA. When I asked Smart about Fredette a few weeks ago when the Kings were in Salt Lake, he said, “I just felt when I got chance to be around him. … I thought his skills were going to put him in position to where can become a point guard in the NBA.”

As I noted in that column, Smart didn’t say a great point guard, or even a starting guard. Just a point guard, period.  http://www.deseretnews.com/article/700220134/Jimmer-Fredettes-return-shows-hes-still-an-NBA-work-in-progress.html

TJ also tweeted to a critic “who r u, stop writing me, im sure jimmers teamates could care less about what i say, i said it not jimmer.”

So TJ is owning his tweets.

At the same time, you have to wonder if the never-controversial Jimmer likes having his brother call out the coach. Jimmer might even be thinking the same things, but he didn’t get as popular as he is by having strong opinions.

TJ is entitled to his opinions. But if I were Jimmer, I’d ask him to save the rants for private conversations.

I could not possibly agree more with TJ. I also could not agree more with this article, that TJ needs to keep those types of comments to private conversations. Coach Smart is a terrible coach. He totally missed it on Jeremy Lin and can only say, “NOBODY saw this coming” as if to excuse his inability to recognize and/or develop talent. And now, Coach Smart is missing it on Jimmer.

Smart made the right move by starting Isaiah and limiting Jimmer’s minutes. He wouldn’t know defense if it hit him in the head. He’s also shooting poorly, which is about the only thing he’s good for. Thomas finds his teammates, and pushes the tempo, and can actually play defense. He outplayed the no. 1 pick and almost got a triple-double. He’s lead them to their current two-game winning streak. It’s clear as day, the Kings play better when he’s on the court. Thomas deserves the start, working hard as the last pick in the draft. He earned it, Jimmer has earned nothing.

Family members that ride coat tales are bordering parasitic. I realize TJ is the big brother yada, yada, yada.

Kings have issues. I have watched them play 12-15 games. They are young. They are ball hogs. NBA is all “Dunks” and “Down towns”. Ranting is not going to help or change that – only hurt it.

The kings are terrible, playing nothing like a team. Jimmer is a little too timid. The rest of the team has no consience about when to shoot. Jimmer needs
to be on a team that is a team and has a clue.

Please tell me the logic behind what the Kings are doing. They are not winning games. Since Westphal was fired Jimmer’s minutes have dropped significantly. Is there any hope of a trade to a team that would give him a chance? Would the Jazz be willing to give up a big for his services? The Jazz lack a 3 point shooter don’t they? Is his lack of defensive skills the problem? Is he the only great shooter who is weak defensively in the NBA? Or was his last year with the Cougars a fluke?

As an interim coach Smart knows his days are numbered and the prospect of being a head coach tenuous at best so he’s doing what he thinks is in his best interest right now…not Jimmer’s or anyone else on the King’s roster…just W’s! TJ is reacting like any older brother would and Jimmer must be prepared to play his best, for whatever minutes he can get when his number is called. Remain humble and ready and his day will come!

I believe that Keith Smart is in a no win situation. I do not really know what Smart knows as a coach. I hear that he possibly wasted a chance with Jeremy Lin at Golden State.I do know that the Kings are a terrible team in a very precarious financial position.I believe that the kings are a bunch of individuals who could care less about playing team ball. Most of the NBA is that way in my opinion. I am not sure why the Kings traded with Milwaukee in the last draft to get the Jimmer, except maybe to drum up some excitement with the Jimmer college fame. But if they wanted to treat him like a project they should have said so. But instead they fired their Head Coach like seven games into this short 66 game season and bring in Keith Smart as HC. I am not sure what Smart plans to do with the Jimmer or the Kings for that matter. Are they posturing ot losing in order to make it easier to move to Anaheim or Seattle next year? I don’t know. But I do believe that the Jimmer is riding the pine for the other rookie point guard. If the Kings or Smart do not want the Jimmer to play why don’t they trade him to a team that wants him.

These ball hogs get a championship level coach fired so they can bring in a “players coach” and do whatever they want win or lose. Keith Smart sits Jimmer for 2 games after he has games of 15, 17, 19 and 20 points. Even while Jimmer was playing well Isaiah got his minutes to improve and show himself. Now Isaiah plays well and Jimmers minutes dissapear and Smart can say, “well he’s playing good so I gotta play him.” He never said,”Jimmer’s playing good so I gotta play him.” In fact he said the opposite, “I have to play him because we drafted him.” Which is a slap in the face to the Maloofs and Paul Westphaul. He PERSONALLY underminded Paul Wesphaul to the players and then he was given his job on an INTERIM basis because the overrated Cousins wanted OUT and instead got his coach fired. The Kings players don’t care or even listen to what their INTERIM coach says because they run this team not management or ownership. People should be praising TJ for saying the truth not bashing him. Jimmer’s teammates hate him, his shoe deal and how much advertising was done by the Kings at the beginning of the year based around him. They don’t try hard when he’s in the game because of their hatrid of him and it shows in their body language on and off the court, just use your eyes and stop reading box scores. This team, ownership, g.m. and especially their head coach is a JOKE. It’s time for Jimmer fans to STOP buying Kings SWAG so that they can let him go to a different team because the soon to be BANKRUPT owners won’t let him as long as they are still selling jerseys, merchandise and season tickets. So if you Jimmer fans want to see him succeed or atleast be like by his teammates; STOP BUYING KINGS SWAG, DEMAND YOUR SEASON TICKET MONEY BACK and Geoff Petrie will be forced into trading him for the Jazz 12th pick straight up. Chris Emmonds isn’t doing enough to make this happen so the fans have to do it themselves. I hope there will be a FREEJIMMERFREDETTE.COM website made by some BYU student or alum soon where you can just go and trash the Kings franchise from top to bottom whether you’re TJ or just someone like me. But can we finally get rid of the INTERIM coach who is a 2nd rate assistant at best at any level yet?
