Most popular Jazz figure: You make the call

As I interviewed retiring Jazz director of game operations Grant Harrison, last week, he mentioned several times that Bear, the mascot, is the face of the Jazz.Screen Shot 2013-05-13 at 9.59.13 AM

“Players come and go, even owners come and go. But if someone asked me who is the face of the Jazz, I’d have to say, ‘Honestly, Bear,’” Harrison said.

He went on to say that in the past, polls would show John Stockton, Karl Malone and Jeff Hornacek were the team’s most popular figures, but Bear was right behind. He said that nowadays Bear is the team’s favorite.

In that light, I’d like to conduct my own poll.

No Frank Layden? Are you kidding me? I wouldn’t expect Frank to win it, but I’d expect him to get more votes than Carlos Boozer. The person who put the options together can’t be any older than 18.

  2. Jordan

We need to be able to rank/separately order these names. Growing up listening to games, Hot Rod was the “voice” of the Jazz while Stockton, Malone and Sloan were the Jazz I saw I saw. If Sloan was still with the team, he should/would easily pass by Bear, same with LHM.

  3. Richie

Match just the coachs together including Hornyand see what fans think. I liked both Sloan and Laydon.

  4. Howard Beale

No Frank Layden. NO AD, NO Golden Griff, No Gentle Ben. Again, another lame list by the D-News. We needs some historical perspective.

  5. Nathan Hatch

Who are the 171 crazy drunk people that are voting Carlos Boozer as the face of the Jazz? Seriously? c’mon man! Even if you weren’t around for the John and Karl years vote for Deron or ANYONE else on the list!
